VIENNA: The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) is committed to eradicating corruption from Pakistan, said NAB Chairman Qamar Zaman Chaudhry while addressing an international conference on anti-corruption in Vienna on Monday. The NAB chief, who attended the conference as a guest of honour, highlighted the NAB’s anti-corruption strategy and the initiatives taken by the incumbent management of the anti-graft body to eradicate corruption from Pakistan.
All the participants appreciated the NAB’s anti-corruption strategy, especially its campaign on awareness and prevention. He said that eradication of corruption and recovery of the looted money was the top priority of the NAB. He said that the present management of had recovered Rs 50 billion looted money. He said that NAB’s conviction ratio was about 75%, which was also an exemplary achievement for any anti-corruption agency in Pakistan. It may be mentioned that prevention of corruption is an integral component for the implementation of provision of United Nation Convention against corruption (UNCAC).
