LAHORE: Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif on Wednesday announced to move to court against Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan over ‘his corruption allegations’.
The chief minister addressed a press conference in the provincial capital and announced making a defamation claim against Khan in court after he alleged the chief minister of colluding with ‘his frontman’, Javed Sadiq – a Canada-based businessman who funds for the people’s betterment.
Earlier in the day, Khan claimed that he would reveal a scandal involving the allegedly corrupt chief minister ahead of the November 2 lockdown of Islamabad. He further accused that being Shahbaz’s frontman, Sadiq pocketed around Rs 15 billion in commission over different so-called ‘development’ projects.
Denying the accusations, the chief minister proclaimed to quit politics and walk away along with his family if the court decided in Khan’s favour. Shahbaz announced to request the court to hear the case on daily basis for early verdict.
He said that the elements who endorse sit-ins did not wish Pakistan’s progress and the development projects’ timely completion. Shahbaz said he knows Javed Sadiq since 2008 and cleared that if Khan’s allegations held ground, the alleged culprit should have had development contracts in his hand by the government – but that was not the case as Sadiq made a bid through a Chinese company but was not given the contract.
He said that PTI leaders were lying to the nation to make their sit-ins ‘a success’ however, the attempts would fail.
