ISLAMABAD: The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) on Friday arrested former secretary Zakiullah of the Pakhtunkhwa Housing Department and two other persons for their alleged involvement in corruption of Rs 150 million.
An inquiry was authorised to ascertain real facts and collect requisite evidence regarding moveable and immoveable properties owned, controlled and possessed by accused persons in their name and in name of their dependents.
During the course of inquiry, it was revealed that Zakiullah was posted on key portfolios. His Brother Zafarullah and a former assistant inspector general of the traffic police were also found to be involved in the scam.
During their tenures, the accused piled assets worth millions of rupees in their name and in name of their dependent. Their illegal properties, disproportionate to known sources of income include:
A bungalow at Jinnahabad Abbottabad Cantt; two bungalows on Shami road, Peshawar Cantt; a house in Shadman colony, Warsak road Peshawar; a bungalow on Kakul road Abbottabad;a bungalow in DHA Islamabad; two plots in Regi Model Town, Peshawar; a plot in Abbottabad Cantt; a plot in Hayatabad, Peshawar; a plot in DHA Islamabad; a Corolla XLI and a Suzuki Cultus.
Zakiullah had previously been arrested by NAB’s branch in Pakhtunkhwa as he was found to be involved in multi-million scam of Mouza Darwaza Nathiagali, causing huge loss to public exchequer.
Inquiry is being actively pursued and more alarming facts are being discovered. The accused will be presented in an accountability court for obtaining their physical remand.
